What is Integrative Acupressure?
In my office in Hatfield, I offer hands-on health care that provides you with a more complete understanding of yourself and how to maintain optimal health. Integrative Acupressure incorporates the wisdom of ancient Chinese medicine with hands-on techniques. Clients remain fully clothed, and, unlike acupuncture, acupressure does not use needles.
Integrative Acupressure is particularly effective in relieving:
- Daily stress and anxiety
- Headaches and migraines
- Neck and shoulder pain
- Back pain
- Neuropathy
- Fatigue
- Insomnia
- Eye strain
- Nausea
- Digestive and gastro-intestinal problems
- Allergies
- PMS and other menstrual difficulties
- Menopausal imbalances
Integrative Acupressure is the combination of separate health disciplines: acupressure, neuromuscular therapy, lymphatic massage, foot reflexology, cranio-sacral therapy, and hara shiatsu.
Simply stated, integrated Acupressure is a method of locating and releasing blocked or congested energy centers in the body. These energy centers, or acupoints, lie on the energy pathways called meridians. By using deep but gentle finger pressure on specific acupoints, blocked energy is released, allowing your mind and body to relax and thus release the pain.
Neuromuscular Therapy addresses issues in the body’s muscle tissue and the nerves that run through those muscles. Neuromuscular Therapy includes identifying tight muscles and applying pressure to get them to relax and release, identifying weak or inflamed muscle tissue and dispersing that inflammation, and stretching tight muscles.
Lymphatic massage is a method of manually moving the lymphatic fluid of the immune system through the nodes and ducts of the lymphatic system network to relieve temporary congestion from colds and flu, and aid building the immune system for longer-term health maintenance.
Foot reflexology is both a diagnostic and treatment tool. By massaging or stimulating reflex areas on the foot that correspond to internal organs, spinal column, and sciatic nerve, it is possible to benefit those areas of the body.
Cranio-sacral therapy works on the cerebral spinal fluid, cranial bones, brain, and spinal cord through very light pressure on the head and sacrum. It is a low-stress way of helping with injuries such as concussion, whiplash, and other brain injuries as well as issues with the spine.
Hara shiatsu is a form of direct massage of the internal organs, including liver, stomach, intestines, uterus, and kidneys. It increases blood flow to the organs meaning more nutrients can reach the organs and more toxins can be released from the organ tissue.
With these diverse tools, Integrative Acupressure integrates work on all of the body’s systems, providing clients with more thorough, longer-lasting, cumulative results.
In addition to providing hands-on Integrative Acupressure, I recommend herbal remedies to clients. These are simple, safe, nutritionally-based home remedies that address specific issues. For example, comfrey and St. John’s wort are useful for pulled muscles and strained tendons, mullein oil is good for acute and chronic lymphatic congestion, and nettles added to one’s diet helps relieve allergy symptoms.
My goal is to provide affordable healthcare to my clients through hands-on treatment as well as direct education. I work as your coach to give you the tools to treat yourself and your family.
